Aqeedah – Shaikh Aala ElSayyed

Tawhid – Monotheism
• Oneness of God, not unity of God

Aqeedah is the bedrock of the belief system. If you don’t have Aqeedah, all your worship is built upon falsehood.

Godhood – actions of the servants should only be for Allah (SWT)
- Actions and Deeds only be going to Allah(SWT)
- Only have intention to Worship Allah(SWT)
- Acts done by tongue and anything inwards or outwards to please Allah(SWT)

Worship – Everything you do in life should bring you closer to Allah (SWT)
- Amal will give you the higher ranks of heavens - mercy of Allah(SWT)

Pillars of Tawhid
- Tawheed-Al-Ikhlas: Sencerity
- Tawheed-Al-Sidq/Abd: Truthfulness/will of servant
- Tawheed-Al-Tariq: Path of Allah(SWT)

• Tawheed ar-Rububiyah Monotheism of Godhood
• Tawheed al-Asma’ was-Sifat Monotheism of names and attributes
• Tawheed al-Ibadah Monotheism of worship for the sake of Allah

Four types of Sunnah
1. Utterance qaul
2. Actions fe’el
3. Description
4. Concurrence iqraar

Definition of the “Act of Ibadah” – Ibadah Istilaah. Everything Allah (SWT) loves and accepts, from an utterance or action, internal or external.

Goal of Ibadah – worship Allah in the proper way. Establish the love of Allah (SWT) and humility to him. Establish a balance between raja (glorifying/loving Allah) and khauf (fear of Allah).

Two things to keep in mind:-
- What am I doing?
- And, who am I doing it for?

Act of Worship vs. Monotheism of act of Worship

Act of Worship: The actual act of Worship (utterance or actions, internal or external)
Monotheism of act of Worship: Act of worshipping, only for the sake of Allah (SWT).

When is our Ibadah accepted?
1. Iqlas: Everything we do is for the sake of Allah (SWT)
2. Follow the Quran and Sunnah

Aadah vs. Ibadah

Aadah – Culture: Everything in life is Halal except what Allah (SWT) and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) has forbidden.
Ibadah – Act of Worship: Don’t do anything, except what Allah (SWT) has told us to do, and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) showed us to do.

Other names for Tawheed al-Uluhiia
• Tauheed al feeley
• Tawheed al-irada
• Tawheed al-a’maal (actions and deeds)

Shirk can be done easily without realizing:
• If you miss a prayer because you got caught up in work, means you are giving your work more importance than Allah. This is a form of Shirk.
• Nothing should be more beloved to you than your lord.
• “Laana” kicked out of the mercy of Allah (SWT)
• “No one will enter heaven except for the mercy of Allah” –Prophet (saw)
• Mercy of Allah gets you in heaven; deeds get you to a higher level within heaven.
• Adilla Naqleeya –book of Allah/Hadith
• Adilla Aqleeya –knowledge, sensible
• Rights of Allah: to be worshipped properly
• Rights of servants: to be awarded if they worship properly
• Tauheed al-Ibadah –doing something for the sake of Allah
• Al-Ibadah –the acts themselves
